Founded in 2015 by two Indiana University Jacobs School of Music students, Classical Connections partners music students with local organizations to bring the joy of music to underserved community members.

Classical Connections operates under the advisement of Dr. Alain Barker, Director of Music Entrepreneurship and Career Development at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In addition to Dr. Barker's mentorship, the Jacobs School of Music's Project Jumpstart has supported many of the Classical Connections endeavors.

With four active community partnerships and over 200 musician members, Classical Connections hosts an average of four performances each month. We are constantly growing within our Bloomington chapter, and we look forward to expanding to additional conservatories in the coming years!

See what people have to say

"Classical Connections is one of the best organizations I have been a part of since I started here at IU Jacobs.  Classical Connections greatly values giving back to the community and bringing music to people from all walks of life...Altogether, Classical Connections is an amazing, service-minded organization, and I look forward to performing with them in the future!"

Keely

Student, IU Jacobs School of Music

"The Children's Program is just in the process of launching a music class for our kiddos, and this is just the kind of thing I think will excite them. Thank you so much for offering this fantastic opportunity for our children and families."

Emily

Local Homeless Shelter Representative

"Our residents have truly enjoyed having the students perform at our community, and the level of interaction with the residents has been amazing.  We have quite a few retired professors of music, as well as theory professors and music teachers; they look forward to the performances and the students' post-performance chats, with equal fervor."
